Advanced Orthopedic Treatments and Surgeries
Needing shoulder surgery or hip or knee replacement surgery can be scary, but getting treatment to help can help patients get their mobility back.
According to the National Library of Medicine, over seven million Americans are living with a knee or hip replacement. The good news? These procedures help them to remain mobile long after their injuries.
The experienced orthopedic doctors at Manatee Physician Alliance are available to provide a wide variety of treatments for the shoulder, hip, knee and other parts of the musculoskeletal system to keep you mobile and living with less physical limitations.
Shoulder procedures
Shoulder procedures can relieve pain that limits mobility and impacts your everyday life. Some of the shoulder surgeries we offer include:
- Anatomic shoulder replacement
- Surgeons remove damaged areas of bones and cartilage in your shoulders and add plastic or metal in order to create a sturdier shoulder, relieve pain and increase mobility.
- Reverse shoulder replacement
- By reversing the way your glenohumeral joint normally performs, reverse shoulder replacement surgery creates a more stable joint.
- Arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs
- Usually the least invasive method of repairing a torn rotator cuff, this surgery takes place using an arthroscope, or a small tube-shaped instrument that is inserted into a joint.
- Arthroscopic labral repairs
- Usually the least invasive method of repairing a torn labrum, this surgery takes place using an arthroscope, or a small tube-shaped instrument that is inserted into a joint.
- Non-surgical options
- Non-surgical shoulder options can relieve the pain through anti-inflammatory drugs while the injury heals or strengthens the injured area through exercise and physical therapy.
Hip procedures
Hip procedures can be needed due to an athletic injury, impact injury, use over time and aging, among other things. Hip surgeries we offer include:
- Direct anterior total hip replacement
- This type of hip replacement is used to avoid the muscles and tendons that may prolong recovery after surgery for less pain and a faster recovery.
- Geriatric hip fracture
- Fracturing a hip as a senior can cause problems that affect your everyday life. The teams can diagnose and help treat the injury, getting you back to daily activities sooner rather than later.
- Bikini anterior hip replacement
- Our team provides minimally invasive hip replacement surgeries including bikini anterior hip replacement surgery. This type of hip replacement hides the incision scar.
Knee procedures
Knee pain can be frustrating, and correctly diagnosing and treating your knee injury can be the key to long-term pain relief and mobility. Some of the knee surgeries we offer include:
- Total knee replacement
- A total knee replacement can help relieve knee pain and add mobility when non-surgical methods fail.
- Partial knee replacement
- Removing damaged tissue in the joints of the knee, this procedure is used when the issue is in only part of the knee.
- Knee ACL and ligament surgery
- Common injuries that can occur while participating in sports or participating in everyday activities, we provide ACL surgeries, as well as other ligament procedures, to help you get back to doing what you love.
- Knee arthroscopy
- This minimally invasive procedure allows for your doctor to diagnose and treat your knee joint without making large incisions that take longer to heal.
- Meniscal repairs
- If surgery is deemed necessary for your meniscus injury, our orthopedic team can perform meniscus repairs to help with your long-term mobility.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP)
PRP is a technique that requires the injection of platelet-rich plasma derived from your own blood. Your blood is drawn and then spun in a centrifuge for roughly 15-20 minutes that separates the blood cells that help with blood clotting (platelets) from your red blood cells. It’s then injected into the affected area. This established treatment technique can be used to stabilize and strengthen the weak, damaged tendons and ligaments that cause instability and pain.
